Rafael Nadal: "You cannot lie to players, you cannot lie to fans. We need a little more respect. It was raining. I'm the first person here who wanted to play but not if it's raining. Grand Slams feel like they have too much power, they don't care about the players. It's not right. I can't say I don't want to go on court. The ATP must have enough power to say we cannot go on court if it's raining. At Grand Slams we don't have power, this has to change. Grand Slams are the biggest tournaments on the tour but if they don't respect the players we have to do something about it. We've had hundreds of meetings, the only way to change is to stop all the talking. Taking a drastic decision is tough but... I don't like to be in front of the cameras, it seems like I'm the rebel. It's not like that. I say what's fair for everybody. The only way things can change is if the players are united and the ATP supports us."
Jas, London, via text on 81111: "Let's not get carried away slagging US Open organisers. They can not control rain... ladies QF tonight due to one additional day for men."
2318: Still raining at the Meadows.
BBC Radio 5 live's Jonathan Overend on Twitter: "Can someone explain why women's QFs could get played tonight but men's 4R matches which have started have been cancelled? Maybe they think it's fairer to let Murray/Nadal etc go home and rest than have more frustration here."
Anon via text on 81111: "The organisation of the competition (in name only) has made it so unfair for the players in the bottom half that the Open has become a mockery; and players like Nadal and Murray are wasting their time."
Boris Becker on Twitter: "US open center court needs a ROOF !!!!"
Anon via text on 81111: "SURELY the men's 4th round matches should be given priority over any quarters. Another incomprehensible decision by US Open organisers."
2250: All four women's quarter-finals are scheduled to start at roughly the same time - no earlier than 6.30pm local time (2330 BST). Serena v Pavlyuchenkova on Ashe, Wozniacki v Petkovic on Louis Armstrong, Zvonareva v Stosur on Grandstand and Pennetta v Kerber on Court 17.
2245: All men's matches are cancelled for the day. Official.
Sam, Wolverhampton, via text on 81111: "Surely it wouldn't be too hard for the organisers to get a roof on at least Ashe Court, like Wimbledon did on Centre? It only makes sense. Weather always disrupts this tournament."
US Open statement: "Unfortunately, due to the lingering rain, the day session has been cancelled. Every effort will be made to play tonight's evening session, which will feature the women's quarter-final matches between Serena Williams and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Samantha Stosur and Vera Zvonareva, Caroline Wozniacki and Andrea Petkovic, and Flavia Pennetta and Angelique Kerber."
2235: I stand to be corrected... Andy Murray's part-time coach Sven Groeneveld tweets to tell us the night session is still scheduled to go ahead featuring all four women's quarter-finals. So, provided the rain clears, Wozniacki v Petkovic, Serena v Pavlyuchenkova, Zvonareva v Stosur and Pennetta v Kerber will all be played on day 10. Or so says Sven.
2230: Remember, we heard a while ago that today's men's quarter-finals - Djokovic v Tipsarevic and Federer v Tsonga - had been put back to Thursday. In fairness, the whole schedule is probably off for today - we're just awaiting official confirmation.
2228: As things stand, we've only got confirmation that the matches in progress have been cancelled for the day. That means Murray v Young, Nadal v Muller and Ferrer v Roddick. Sounds like the other fourth-round match - Simon v Isner - has gone too.
